True Story: I recently renewed my Driver’s License and, being unwilling to be seen reading one of these books in public, I took The Life of Pi with me to help wile away the time. I was floored by the quality of the writing. It was as if I have read so much genre-specific literature, I had forgotten how good prose can be. I wanted to jump out of my seat and show everyone exclaiming, “Look at these sentences! They are so well written!”, instead I sighed quietly to myself, “I never knew it could be like this!”. Then I went home and read two romance novels, and I haven’t touched The Life of Pi since.
